Dominic Wright was born in Aplin Shade, a remote Canadian town built on the bones of another that vanished without a trace. After a carriage crash kills his father and leaves his sister forever changed, Dominic must hold his family together in a place that seems to be unraveling.

His only refuge is Lex, a logger in the nearby camp and the love he must keep secret. Together they dream of leaving Aplin Shade behind before the forest claims them too.

But the woods are waking. The Fanteur—shadowed beings who come at night to drain the dead of blood—have begun to take the living instead.

As winter closes in, Dominic and Lex must fight to escape both the town and the darkness rising in the trees.
